SHORT DESCRIPTION

In order to spread the load equally across the rope support structure, initially all the construction material was deposited in storage nets in the inner ring of the roof structure. Following this, the 112 panels were installed one after the other on five work platforms, which were constantly moved in the direction of the assembly. The 3,3 km joints were then closed using hot air welding.

SHORT DESCRIPTION

In order to realise the membrane roof extension of the Mercedes Benz Arena, the Membrantean installed the entire new rope support system including 40 pneumatic cushions, 64 membrane arches and 40 roof sections. The inner rope ring, weighing 30 t, with radial axes, was lifted and bolted-in by hand during a 12-hour-long lifting action. The rope construction, including the steel supports and arches, weighs 70 t and includes more than 1500 metres of rope. The covered area of the inner ring is 6,5 metres wide on the grandstands and 15 m on the curves. The Membranteam also installed four modern light platforms and two LED video panels. Existing membranes had already been replaced, as commissioned by the company Taiyo Europe GmbH.

... from Membranteam. Despite the extreme weather conditions on the peninsula and the winds from the Caspian Sea, as well as the deadline pressure due to the upcoming ESC 2012, the Membranteam was able to successfully complete the project task in advance of the planned deadline. Following test installations in Ankara, the Membranteam initially began in wintry Baku with a team of 20 and then continuously increased this number to a total of 3 teams. Two closure flaps were heat-sealed around the hall and bonded with aluminium composite sheets. 2 cranes and 12 risers were used to install the membrane. We were also involved in the electrical installation, the roof drainage, dry walling, fire prevention, the installation of the panel façade and the steel construction!
